Circumstances of claim
JA had been admitted to the Royal Alexandra Hospital on 07 May 2020. At that time, she was suffering from abdominal pain similar to gallstone pain. After surgical assessment, it was noted that JA was complaining of epigastric pain with vomiting. She suffered from diabetes, hypertension and a previous laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Whilst an ECG had been taken, it had not, unfortunately, been acted upon. JA was found to be unresponsive at 9.00pm on 07 May 2020 and was pronounced dead later that evening.
How we helped the family of JA
We intimated a claim upon the NHS after having obtained a supportive experts report from a consultant cardiologist who confirmed that the failure to report the ECG results was negligent.
We thereafter contacted all relevant qualifying relatives to advise them of their entitlement to make a claim and thereafter acted on behalf of all qualifying relatives which involved ingathering all loss information and negotiating with the NHS. All claims were eventually settled in favour of the claimants.
